Meet Our Team

Renee Richesin, MD

Hello! I am Dr. Renee Richesin, founder of Magnetic Hope in Birmingham. A native of Birmingham, I completed my medical education at UAB, where I also completed my internship, residency, and served as chief resident. After becoming board certified in Psychiatry, I joined Wellspring Christian Clinic in 1998 and practiced part-time with that wonderful group of clinicians until 2019 when I opened Magnetic Hope. My experience also includes directing the psychiatric residential treatment unit at Donaldson prison and supervising psychiatric nurse practitioners.

With extensive experience in treating patients with depression, my focus has been in advocating for a holistic approach to mental health. This functional medicine approach addresses physical health (nutrition, exercise, sleep), psychological wellbeing (healthy thinking patterns and combating cognitive distortions), social connections (maintaining healthy relationships), and spiritual health.

In 2019, I founded Magnetic Hope to offer TMS, an innovative, safe and highly effective treatment for depression. In 2023 we grew to add Spravato (esketamine) treatments. In 2024 we expanded into the office space next door to add Russ Rogers, PMHNP to provide medication management, started offering CBT and opened our metabolic clinic, Metabilic Hope, to connect the dots between mental health and metabolic health. In my free time I enjoy arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, biking, reading, spending time with family and friends and travel.

Elizabeth T

My name is Elizabeth, and I primarily serve as the Spravato Coordinator at Magnetic Hope. It is my job to make it easy for patients to navigate this groundbreaking option for healing from treatment-resistant depression. I also am a Patient Success Advocate, working 1:1 with patients to determine each individual’s health goals and direct them to our services that help them meet their goals. At Magnetic Hope, we believe that one size doesn’t fit all, and that each patient’s uniqueness warrants personalized treatment.

On occasion I also fill in as a TMS Technician and Spravato technician. With over 17 years of patient care experience, I am deeply committed to creating a safe, welcoming space where individuals feel supported in their healing journey. One of the things that drives me is seeing how many people avoid seeking care because of fear—whether from past negative experiences or anxiety about visiting the doctor. At Magnetic Hope, it is my mission to help break down those barriers and ensure every person who walks through our doors feels comfortable, valued, and heard. I love giving hope to patients that there are treatments that can help!

Russ Rogers, PMHNP

Hello, my name is Russell Rogers, and as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I provide holistic care that empowers patients to move forward towards HOPE and HEALING from depression and anxiety that “just won’t go away”. I am passionate about combating the stigma that still surrounds mental health. I strive to help my patients recognize their mental health struggles and embrace effective treatment options.

I was raised in Springville, Alabama, where my father was a high school football coach. Growing up playing football, I was engrained with the value of exercise. It wasn’t till much later, as a psychiatric provider, that I understood the impact of mindset and stress and how negative and catastrophizing thoughts are as powerful as medications and must be addressed.

It truly breaks my heart to see patients who no longer have hope that they can feel good again, as I know that healing is possible because I see it happen daily. It is this unfounded sense of hopelessness that pushes me to keep learning, listening, and showing up for my patients every day.

Our holistic treatment approach at Magnetic Hope aligns with my personal lifestyle values. Instead of just recommending psychiatric medications, we recognize that food, movement, sleep and mindset are also “medicine” that are crucial for healing. It is important to me to be able to take the time to educate my patients on how cumulative changes in each of these areas can be powerful levers leading to restored energy, peaceful sleep and social connections. My hobbies of meal-prepping, running, weightlifting and Brazilian jiu-jitsu allow me to share with my patients the positive impact in my own life of movement, nourishing food and healthy thoughts.

Michael G.

I was one of Dr Richesin’s very first employees when she first opened Magnetic Hope in 2022. I was in college at UAB at the time and responded to a job posting for a TMS tech. I have worked on and off at Magnetic Hope since then.
As a TMS technician, I hope to make a positive impact on the individuals we treat. I am passionate about creating a space where patients feel heard and validated and are empowered to advocate for themselves. I believe that healthcare is most successful as a partnership between provider and patient where they work together to uncover the personalized solution for each individual. I love learning, and I am committed to helping Dr. Richesin research new avenues for holistic approaches that address the whole person.

I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and will soon start medical school to pursue my dream of becoming a physician.

When I am not in the clinic, I love doing anything active! I enjoy weightlifting, playing basketball, and hitting the pickleball courts. I also love music and enjoy singing as a hobby!  I come from a large family.

Lindsey T.

I am a single mom whose journey has been deeply shaped by both personal challenges and a passion for advocacy. Having struggled firsthand with the gaps in psychiatry and the devastating lack of insurance coverage for those who truly need help, I’ve seen how overwhelming the system can feel—especially when there are so few advocates willing to step in and fight for people’s rights. Too often, those who are most vulnerable are left without the support they’ve already paid for, deserve, and desperately need. Through my work, I’ve been given the opportunity to change that. As an office manager and insurance biller, I work behind the scenes to help patients get the services they need while supporting an incredible team of providers who are deeply passionate about their work. My role is to manage the office in a way that facilitates success—giving our staff the resources and support they need to provide excellent care, while I focus on the background details that make everything run smoothly. This allows our team to fully concentrate on what they do best: delivering outstanding customer service and life-changing treatment. Every patient who walks through our door deserves to feel valued, cared for, and loved, and I am proud to play a part in making that happen. As a single mother, I learned the importance of being a protector, a nurturer, and an advocate for those who relied on me alone. That experience gave me strength, resilience, and a relentless drive to work as hard as I possibly can in everything I do. I believe God has always placed me exactly where I needed to be in order to help others, and my daily prayer is that I continue to fulfill that calling in the way He intends.

Tania C.

Hello! I’m Tania Carreker, and I’m honored to serve as a bilingual TMS Care Technician at Magnetic Hope. I’m passionate about supporting our patients on their journey to overcome depression and anxiety. Providing comfort and care during treatment are always my top priorities.
As a military wife of over 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of living across the country, adapting to new challenges and embracing resilience. When one of our children was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE), we embraced holistic treatments, focusing on dietary modifications and nutrition. This experience strengthened my resolve to support others in their well-being—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too, and it brings me joy to be able to provide effective and safe cutting-edge treatment options that many patients are not even aware of.

Being part of Dr. Richesin’s vision and the mission of Magnetic Hope inspires me every day. I love helping patients reclaim energy, hope and presence in their lives, and I feel deeply honored to walk alongside our patients on their path toward healing.

When I am not helping patients to heal, I recharge by outreach through my church, cooking for my family and friends, hiking, painting, hanging out with my family and playing with my dog Bella. I also enjoy traveling back to New Mexico where I was raised to visit with family there and eat posole.

As a child I dreamed of a place where people could find healing…
