Dr. Renee Richesin

Dr. Renee Richesin

Hello! I am Dr. Renee Richesin. I grew up in Birmingham and attended medical school at UAB. Afterwards, I completed my internship and residency and served as chief resident in UAB’s Department of Psychiatry and Neurobiology. After becoming board certified in Psychiatry, I joined Wellspring Christian Clinic in 1998 and have practiced part-time with that wonderful group of clinicians since then. I have also been the director of the psychiatric residential treatment unit in Donaldson prison and supervised psychiatric nurse practitioners.

Over the years, I have treated many patients with depression. I have always advocated for a holistic approach to treating mental illness including addressing the physical (nutrition, exercise, sleep), the psychological (healthy thinking patterns and combating cognitive distortions), the social (maintaining healthy relationships), and the spiritual. I was thrilled in 2019 to begin offering TMS treatment as well. It is an innovative treatment option that is well-tolerated and more effective than medication for most patients.

Committed to excellence and innovation in treating psychiatric illness, I opened Magnetic Hope TMS in 2022 to be able to provide my patients with a TMS system that uses neuro-navigation to precisely determine where the magnetic therapy should be applied. I am a member of the Clinical TMS Society. I happily collaborate with your current clinicians to make medication suggestions. In my free time I enjoy arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, biking, reading, spending time with family and friends and travel.
